Assuming Miranda was read and police did not take short cuts, the defendant faces a mountain of evidence against him. If Miranda was read then the statement against interest, the confession, will be admissable during trial. The medical examiner will detrmine casue of death. As a Criminal Defense Attorney I have never seen this type of case. My only thoughts are for the families of both parties. A young woman is dead and a young man facing severe consequences. A tough job for any attorney. Expert doctors will be brough in for mitigation as the state and defense determine to the best of their ability what caused the situation to reach a deadly point.
